I think the top right light purple is too light, and I need to take it out and choose a shade darker. Agree? This is the Twisted Band Sampler from Northern Expressions Needlework. I have a bit more completed since this photo, almost to the top right where the design comes to.
I spent the a few days last week with my parents as my mother has injured her back very badly. My capable father is handling things beautifully but sometimes its nice for the caretaker to have a break as well. We all had a lovely visit and I’m hopeful that mum is over the worst. The weather on Friday was simply glorious. 20degrees C and the sun was shining. Everywhere you went, people were so happy. I think we all felt we’d been given a marvellous gift. After all, we are Canadian and trust me, we know what comes next.

I’m inclined to agree about the light purple. The contrast between that color and the next one is a bit stark. It’s a lovely design; I have it in my stash and I’m looking forward to watching your progress 🙂

The colours on your needlework are lovely, I hope you find a solution that you are happy with.
When I am working on a quilt design with colour, shade values of light ,dark and medium and print size of small, medium and large , one wrong piece can throw the whole look out.
I find taking photos of the progress really helps as you are better able to spot what’s not working, before the fabrics are sewn together…….big time saver !
Maybe you can photograph small areas as you go if you think something is not right.Lots of art work get lighter toward the top, maybe that was the look they were going for, but if you aren’t happy with it, it will bother you in the future.

Your project is so pretty, Caroline! I can understand you wanting to darken up that purple–I’m sure you’ll come up with a perfect shade.
Oh, I do hope your mother heals quickly. I am very familiar with mothers and back issues as mine has severe osteoporosis and has suffered countless collapsed vertebra–so painful and debilitating. I’m glad you are nearby to lend your dad a hand!
Know just what you mean about sun and happiness. When we were visiting our oldest in sunny southern California all you saw was miles of smiles 🙂 It really does make a difference in our moods…
