Me circa 1980ish, and as others have pointed out – sporting an awesome tote bag.
When we’re little and we think about what we want to be when we grow up, it seems like such a wide open world. We can do or be anything. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a musician – a performing musician on a proper stage with fancy dress clothes playing beautiful music. I love playing the flute and the piano. I was lucky enough to have parents who trusted my decision to attend University and work towards my Performance major future. Fast forward a few years, a few new hobbies and a new found love of all things craft related – playing my instruments started to take a back seat. Creating new things with beautiful materials occupied all of my free time and when I wasn’t making, I was dreaming of making new things.
This past year has brought amazing change and new growth. In my 40’s, I appear to be making a career change and moving away from music towards being able to put all of those dreams of what I can create into full time work. The opportunity to share with an online community the passion with which we approach our daily craft has been rewarding. New friendships with kindred spirits all over the globe have been more than I could have ever hoped for. As a child, a frequent comment on my report card was, “Caroline would do better to talk less to her neighbour and apply herself to her work.” or “excellent communicator” or some other way of saying that I talk too much. Now, I like to think that I was simply preparing for my later life path. Thank you for reading my blog, watching my videos, joining with me on the FB group, Instagram feeds, and supporting Evertote by buying project bags.
If you’re interested, I chatted with Gary and Christine of Fiber Talk (I didn’t want to be rude and tell them that they had spelled Fibre incorrectly… ) (just kidding) (mostly) and they’ve posted our interview today. I like to think that my Elementary teachers would be proud, and say knowingly – “boy, could that girl talk a blue streak!”
Lol. You were great on FibreTalk. Your mother and I have something in common. I also have a daughter who can talk a blue streak….with almost anyone!
